Release for Miz Jam 1
With the first version released and me wanting to stick with this project a little longer, I thought it would be a good idea to start a little log on here. So far this game is the result of a little less than 30 hours of work done for Miz Jam 1.
As per the rules of the jam it uses Kenny 1-Bit Pack (with slight modifications) for all graphical assets expect for particle effects.
There are a lot of things I managed to get running during this jam period:
- Multiplayer is running mostly reliably as far as I can tell from the little play testing
- Multiplayer works seamless between browser play and native versions
- Multiple weapons are working and easy to edit, new ones are was to add (including splash damage for explosives and the possibility to shoot multiple projectiles simultaneously for the shotgun)
- The movement concept works pretty decently although the camera flip isn't too popular with most people
- It should support switching between maps although there currently is only one implemented
The next things on my todo list for this project:
- Clean up the source code and put it up on GitHub. Mostly so there are a few more Godot networking examples up there
- Move the lobby to a different server (currently hosted on heroku)
- Do something about the camera flip
- Multiple maps
- Fix the destructible trees and add more destructible stuff
- Rework menus and stat screen to be more presentable
- Fix the bugs I know about and the ones that probably come up during the rating period
- CTF and Team Deathmatch Moses
- In-game chat
So with this: Enjoy this little prototype I hope to to continue working on for a while and bring friends, because playing alone is boring.
And if you have any feedback feel encouraged to leave a comment or shoot me a message.
